The death occurred at New Plymouth yesterday of Mrs. E. F. Fookes, after an unfortunate illness following upon a scratch on the hand. Mrs. Fookes had not been in good health for some time, and blood poisoning ensued after slse had scratched her hand some weeks ago. Her condition became so serious that it was found necessary to amputate her arm. It was hoped that this would lead to a complete recovery, but guyh was not the case. Mrs. Fookes was the second daughter of the late Captain and Mrs. Capel. She was very highly thought of by the many people with whom she came in contact, and deep sympathy will lie felt for Dr. Fpokee >ind bis family in ■the teas they have sustained. •
