FIGURES FROM THE CITIES.

Christchurch, Jan. 3.
Vital statistics for the past year, with. the figures for the previous year in parentheses, were: Births 2602 (2548), deaths 1347 (1210), marriages 113fi (1092). For December the births were 121, deaths 108 and marriages 155. Auckland, Jan. 2.
Vital statistics for Auckland for 1928 show 3582 births, 1842 deaths, and 2192 marriages, of which 535 were performed by the registrar. In 1925 there were 3447 births, 1700 deaths and 2145 marriages, of which 590 were performed by the registrar.
