When the chlorine tank burst he was standing by. Miraculously unhurt, he plunged into the gas-filled building and extricated man after man. When all except 23, who were killed, were safe, Meline collapsed in the manager’s arms. He was hurried to hospital, but shortly succumbed from asphyxiation.
