MR. COATES IN IRELAND
CORDIAL WELCOME RECEIVED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 16, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 15. Mr. J. G. Coatee describes his visit to the Irish Free State as most enjoyable. It included, on Friday, a stay at the Vice-Regal Lodge. At Dublin he was the guest at lunch, of Mr. Desmond Fitzgerald. Then the presentation of the honorary Doctorate of Laws was made at Trinity College, students cheering him through the grounds. Later he and Mrs. Coates were guests of Mr. Cosgrave. After a tour of inspection of Government buildings on Saturday, they visited Belfast, where they were met, not only by Sir James and Lady Craig, but by Mr. William Coates, Mr. Coates’ uncle. On Sunday they accompanied Sir James and Lady Craig and the Cabinet members in a special train to Londonderry, after which they were the guests of Sir James and Lady Craig at a dinner-party at Belfast.’ Mrs. Coates has thoroughly recovered from her recent indisposition.
