BOY’S BRAVE ACT
CHECKED RUNAWAY HORSE. PRESENTED WITH CERTIFICATE. Heroic action on the part of a schoolboy in the Huapai district was recognised when the Minister of Education (the Hon. R, A. Wright) presented Raydon Bruce Hill (13) with a Royal Humane Society’s certificate for bravery. A gjrl of six wat sitting in a trap at the Waimauku station when the horse bolted. Bruce Hill jumped to catch the reins, but fell, and was run over, but by momentarily grabbing the reins in his fall he was able to check the horse, and it pulled up some distance away, with the girl unhurt. The boy was in bed for three weeks recovering from his injuries. In making the presentation, the Minister congratulated Hill-upon his brave act.
