MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

SITTING AT NEW PLYMOUTH. A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at New Plymouth yesterday, Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., presiding. Judgment for the plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: —Govett, Quilliam and Hutchen v. John Stuart Brough, £4 4s (costs, £2 6s 6d); Ridd Company, Ltd., v. Thomas Allan, £l2 2s 5d (£2 18s); R. H. Baker v. Mahi Rui, £2 3s ( £1 18s 6d); same v. Waho Koniene, 10s fid (235); H. J. Webb v. R. T. Barley, £2 (£1 10s ’fid); Taranaki County Council v. John Kendall, £9 4s (£1 15s fid); C. H. Fyfe v. G. M. Holley, £2 7s 3d (£2 0s fid): H. Pierson v. S. Stanley, £3O 14s lid I£4 15s 6d); C. H. Long v. Stanley Hill, £l5 17s (£3 11s); State Advances Superintendent v. Margaret L. Drury, £lB 13s 7d ( £1 4s). On a judgment summons D. King was ordered to pay P. Martin the sum of £ll 5s 6d forthwith, in default 11 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended provided defendant pays £2 down and 10s per week. At the suit of F. P. Grundy, P. Butler was ordered to pay £9 14s 9d, in default nine days’ imprisonment. On a judgment summons A. E. Lovett was ordered to pay the Victoria Insurance Company £l4 12s, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. For failing to provide a time book and for employing a driver at £4 a week instead of at £4 15s 6d, a carrier, Robert F. Roebuck, was fined £2 10s on both charges.
