“DOROTHY”

SUCCESS ACHIEVED AT HAWERA. The Eltham Musical Society which so successfully produced that bright opera, “Dorothy,” at Eltham last week, were given an enthusiastic reception at Hawera to-night by a large audience. As previously the outstanding feature of the performance was the excellence of the singing of the principals and the chorus of 80 voices, the quality of the play in this respect having seldom been equalled in Taranaki. The opera, with its strong bias towards comedy, was presented with a vim and dash that kept the audience continually simmering with merriment or enthralled with the quality of the action. Generally the presentation of “Dorothy” was a distinct credit to the society and the producers, the dressing, scenery and especially the lighting being excellent. The Hawera public will have the last opportunity of seeing “Dorothy” to-night, when the performance will be repeated in the Opera House.
