DRUG ADDICT’S ESCAPE

RETURN TO ROTOROA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Described as a victim of drugs, Charles Marshall Fyfe, aged 46, who arrived from Sydney in custody to-day, pleaded guilty in the Police Court this afternoon to a charge of escaping from the Rotoroa Island reformatory institution on February 25. The accused had been deported from New South Wales. Chief-Detective Cummings said Fyfe escaped from the island on February 25. He had been committed for a term of two years and managed to get away to Sydney. The chief-detective suggested that as accused’s term had not yet expired, he should be sent back to the island. The magistrate, Mr. E. C. Cutten, made an order for the accused to return to the island.
