FIRE IN BOARDINGHOUSE.
IN'MATES' NARROW ESCAPE

Auckland, Last Night
Four rooms of a 15-roomed boardinghouse in Wellesley Street West were eeverely damaged by a fire which broke out shortly after one o’clock this morning. The furniture in the damaged rooms was practically destroyed. Tn one room, a bathroom, the porcelain bath alone remained.
One inmate of the boarding-house. » Maori, had to fight his way through the flames to get from his room. When the city brigade arrived, part of the roof bad fallen in and flames were leaping through the opening. Fortunately a brick wall separated the portion on fire, from the other houses in the block of wooden buildings. IHie building is owned by the Public Trust Office and is occupied by T. U Connor.
