At the wool sales 5600 bales were r«ffered but, owinfe to the high limits, only about IMO were sold at an all round advance of 5 per cent, compared with July 1. CICHAGO WHEAT MARKET. Oncago, Sept. 10. Wheat quotations are: September, 131% cents: December, 134 3-8 cents; May, 139 7-8 cents. DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs Newton King, Ltd., are in receipt of the following advice from their principals, Glasgow (Messrs R. and W. Davidson, Ltd.) : "Butter: Market dull, 156 s to 1625: unsalted, 158 s to 1625. Cheese: Market quiet, coloured 80s to 82s; white, 81s to 84s.’’ TARANAKI STOCK MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hawera branch, reports:— At Eltham on September 8, we held our fortnightly sale, when a medium yarding of all classes of stock was offered. The yarding was cleared at satisfactory prices. We quote: Store cows, £2 to £3 ss; aged cows, £1 to £1 10s; dairy eows, g s., £7 to £11; backward cows, £4 to £5 10s; springing heifers (close up), £6 10s to '£B 10s; backward sorts, £4 to £5; w.f. hoggets (tops), to 23s 6d; fat ewes, to 27s 6d. At the Hawera sale on September 9 a good yarding of both store and dairy cattle was submitted to a large attendance of buyers. Bidding was very keen throughout In both the store and dairy section, and practically everything was sold under the hammer, at ruling prices. We quote: Forward cows, £4 5s Io £5; store eows, £2 10s to £3 ss; aged cows, £1 to £2; works bulls, to £5; medium Jersey yearling heifers, to £3 6s; best springing heifers, £lO to £l2 10s,• good springing heifers, £7 10s to £9; backward and inferior sorts, £4 to £5 10s; weaner pigs, 15s to £l. At Waverley on September 10, we had a medium yarding of dairy cattle. Prices were good considering the quality of the yarding. We quote: Dairy heifers, £7 to £9 ss; inferior heifers, £4 to £5 10s; m.s. hoggets, to 17s lOd. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society of New Zealand report as follows: At Opunake on Monday a good entry of both store and dairy cattle came forward to a
fair att-ndance of buyers and g.n-d sulted. We quote: Light tat cows, £6 10s; forward cows, £4 17s; works cows, £2 to £2 15s: corners, £1 to S’J-s; yearling Jersey heifers, 30s to £2; do. steers £2 ]7s 6d.
At the Kakaramea fortnightly sale h< id on Monday, we yarded a heavy yarding of all clntsis cf cattle and everything was cleared under the hammer at very satisfactory prices. A heavy yarding came forward at our Stony ißiver saie on Tuesday and everything sold under the hammer at late rates. We quote: Ll'ght fat cows, £6 15s; forward cows, £5 4s; store cows, £2 5s to £4; ranners, £1; 2’-4-.vear steers, £6 6s: m.t. Jersey two-year heifers, £3 to £3 ss; best dairy cows, £9 IO £10; others, £5 15» to £6 10s. At Manala on Tuesday we submitted a heavy yarding of all of cattle to a good attendance of buyers and a good sale resulted. Quotations are: Fat cows, £6 15s tc £7 7s 6d; forward eows, £5 to £6 ss; works cows, £2 2s 6d to £4 10s; canntrs, 25» to 345; good hoggets, 23s 9d; weaner pigs, ig R; gm &D stores, 21s to 275; medium do., 325; largo ■.tores, 35s to 375; best dairy heifers account Jas. Sinclair, £8 10s: do., A. Mitchell, £10; de., J. Murray, £8 105.,t0 £l2; on account other clients, £7 10s to £9; inferior heifers, £5 to £6 10s At the homestead, Opunake, we held a clearing sale of cows, etc., on account of Messrs Mulligan Bros. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district and bidding was brisk throughout. Altogether some 48 rows, mostly in milk, were sold and these brought as high as £lB per head. Best cows made from £lO to £18; medium‘cows, £7 to £9 10s: backward sorts and unsound cows, £2 5s to £6; yearling Jersey heifers, £4 3s; implements and sundries sold at very satisfactory prices.
At Auroa on Friday we submitted a fair entry of cattle to a good attendance of buyers and everything was Eoid under the hammer. Forward cows, £5; boners, £2 2s fid to £3 12s 6d; canners, 10s to 255; yearling crossbred lieifers, 31s; small store pigs, 21s; best dairy heifers, £9 to £11; others, £6 to £8 10s; medium heifers in milk. £5 to £C 15s.
