FRANKLEY ROAD FACTORY. MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. i PAST YEAR REVIEWED. The annual meeting of the Frankley Road Dairy Factory Co. was held at the Hurworth Hall last night. Sir. F. Baker presided over an attendance of about 35 shareholders. In submitting the annual report, the directors stated that they were pleased that it showed the of another very successful year. The cheese output to the end of December was sold at 9Jd per lb, the pay-out over that period being 21 7-Sd per lb of butter-fat. During the year they- had received for cheese-making 5,320,2211bs of milk, an increase of 656,2491bs over last year. The butter-fat for cheese-making was 209,6661b5, . and cheese made totalled 569,3001b5, factory weights. Pounds of milk per lb of cheese averaged 9.34; yield, 2.71; and test, 3.94. For buttermaking, 39,4731bs of butter-fat produced 47,6731bs of butter, an over-run of 20.77 per cent. The quantity in tons was: Cheese, 254 tons Sewt; creamery butter, 21 tons acwt; whey butter, 5 tons 4cwt. After writing off £lB7 15s 9d for depreciation there w-as a balance available for distribution of £967 10s lOd. The directors recommended a further payment of 7-8 d per lb of butter-fat supplied for cheese-making over the whole year, bringing the average payment to i'.f.'j.jd per lb of butter-fat supplied for cheese-making. There were several shipments of cheese unsold, and as this cheese was taken into the balance-sheet at 71d, there should' be a further payment to cheese suppliers. They also recommended a further payment of IJd per lb of butter-fat to cream suppliers from November 1 to May 1. Cream suppliers have been paid Is 8d for the earlier months. The weight of butter made from each lb of butter-fat Used for the manufacture of butter was 1.20771 b. The weight of cheese made from each lb of butterfat used for the manufacture of cheese was 2.7 libs. (91.41); average pay-out,, 18.8 d (19.35 d creamery butter made, 52,9861bs (47,G73lbs); over-run, 19.77 percent. (20.77). In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman said he was pleased to be able to say that during the past season they had had a record output for the company. He did not know whether next season it would be as big or not. They had turned down cream collecting which might. make a little difference, but it was possible that next season the output would be greater than ever before. Mr. J. Thomas seconded and the motion was carried after little discussion. Three vacancies on the directorate, caused by the retirement by rotation of Messrs C. D. Chard, 8. Bowen and P. Gilbert resulted in the re-election of Messrs Chard and Gilbert and the election of Mr. J. Barr.

Mr. A. J. Tunbridge was re-elected auditor at the same remuneration.

Mr. A. C. Binnie asked the chairman by what right lie visited Wellington on behalf of the company, when the shareholders had not been consulted.

The chairman replied that he had done so at the request of the directors and for that matter there were a good many other chairmen who had done the same. When asked what attitude he had taken over control, he stated that although there had been no actual vote for control, he had favoured certain proposals of the Control Board and ventured to say that he had voted in the right direction. The chairman and directors were voted the same honorarium as in the previous year.

A vote of thanks was passed to the manager for the excellent results he had achieved in the past season. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Press and to Hie ladies who provided supper. At a subsequent meeting of the directors Mr. F. Baker was re-elected chairman.
