SOUTH ISLAND TOURNAMENT.

By Telegraph.— Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The South Island secondary schools tournament concluded to-day under perfect playing conditions which made for bright displays. In the first game Tiniaru defeated Southland by 39 points to 9. For the final, between Christchurch and Otago, a big crowd attended and was provided with an exhibition of fast, open football. Christchurch won by 13 points to 3 made up of one unconverted try, two penalty goals and a field goal, to one unconverted try. The half-time score was -1 points to 3 in favour of Christchurch. The teams were evenly matched, but the Christchurch backs were better exponents of the handling game and, although they were defending for the greater part of the game, managed to make more of their opportunities than Otago.
