Speaking, at this ceremony Sir Owen Seamen said the £25,000 required for the preservation and restoration of the ship had been secured through a final gift of £5OOO from a United States naval officer (Mr. G. E. Wheatly Cobb) who served with the British Navy during the late war. He was greatly interested in naval archaeology and had done much for the preservation of relies of the navy of the wooden walls days. Mr. Cobb was responsible for saving the “Implacable” from the shipbreakers, “for,” he said, “she is one of the world’s historical treasures. We now have three great relics, the ‘Victory,’ the ‘lmplacable,’ and the ‘Foudroyant.’- ” '
