CHILD’S SAD END. FALLS INTO BOWL OF WATER. (From Our Own Reporter.) Hawera, Aug. 19. A child aged one year and eleven months, named Isabel Myrtle Janies, died in the Kaponga private hospital last night as a result of scalds sustained by falling into a bowl of boiling water. On Tuesday last the mother of the child, who was employed by Mr. A. Fowler, a farmer residing on the Ihaia Road, near Opunake, was engaged in washing clothes and took a bowl of boiling water from the copper, placing it on the floor. • The child had been playing near at the time and fell into the bowl. She was at once taken to the hospital and admitted at one o’clock on Tuesday afternoon and medical treatment was given by Dr. Hockin. The child, however, died at 10 o'clock last night.
