Mr. J. B. Perry, of Wellington, Is at present visiting New Plymouth. Mr. Walter Scott, of New Plymouth, is judging at the Onehunga Poultry Show this week.

Mr. C. A. Trotter, chairman of th«j Opunake Electric Power Board, will represent the board at the annual con* fercnce of power boards to be held in Wellington on July 7. Mr. C. M, Stowers-Crowley, resident engineer, will accompany him.

Captain L. M. Isitt left by the lonic yesterday to be attached to the British Air Ministry for 18 months, where he will undergo courses of instruction. On his return to New Zealand he will be appointed to command the air station at Auckland. —Press Assn.

Dr. Teichelmann has been asked tq represent the Hokitika Savings Bank at a world’s conference at Philadelphia, United States, in October. Dr. Teichelmann will probably undertake the trip, and if he does, is likely to represent) other New Zealand Savings Banks, including the New Plymouth Savings Bank.

Mr. J. Mallard, general manager of the National Insurance Company, will retire on pension at the end of the present month. Air. Mallard has been associated with insurance business for over fifty years, having been twelve years with the Victoria Company and 38 years with the National Company, the last 12 years as general manager. Prior to becoming general manager at Dunedin, Mr, Mallard was manager in Wellington. He is regarded as one of the most able underwriters in New Zealand.

Owing to the depredations of passersby the much admired hedge at “Th® Hollies,” Inglewood, is suffering severely. A notice appears in this Issue which offenders would do well to read. In this issue Mr. M. McDonald inserts particulars of a first-class lease of a fine dairy farm at an attractive price. Mr. McDonald is making a special feature of land transactions of thia nature during the next few months, all of which will be advertised in the Daily News.

Farmers wanting heavy producing cows should attend Sir. T. Healion’s clearing sale next YVednesday, to be held on the farm at Brixton. There are 30 odd cows in his herd whose factory returns last season were 3O9dbs butter-fat. Considering a number were heifers this is an excellent record. Other stock including a line of choice weaner* and two good horses, implements, etc., will be sold also. See full advertisement in auction columns.
