GIRL GUIDES.

ADVANCE OF THE MOVEMENT, At a meeting of the executive of the Girl Guide Association, held last night, the following members were present: Mrs. R. Brewster (in the chair) Mesdames Builock, Gorringe, Morrison, Madkay, So wry; Misses Farhall and Stewart. Apologies were received from Mesdames Wilson, Brodie, Cruiekshank and Keeling. Since the laet meeting of the executive, Mrs. R. Brewster had been appointed provincial commissioner and MrsHodson divisional commissioner. Mrs. R. Brewster’s apipointment meant that she could no longer occupy the chair at executive meetings. Mrs. F. Wilson was therefore unanimously elected chairwoman and Mrs. D. K. Morrison was chosen as the New Plymouth representative of the provincial committee. It was reported that Lady Marjorie Dalrymple would hold a training week for guiders at Wanganui, beginning on July 9. As the weather is too cold for camping under canvas the camp is to be held in the Wanganui Bowling Club’s pavilion. The first brownie enrolment in New Plymouth took place at the Fitzroy School on Saturday June 5. The Brown Owl, Miss Worn, presented seventeen brownies to the divisional commissioner and many friends and guides watched with interest as each small brownie made her promise “to do her duty to God and the King, to obey the law of the brownie pack and to help other people every day, especially those at home.
