QUEENSLAND ELECTIONS.
VOTING ON SATURDAY. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Brisbane, May '5. The State general election is fixed for Saturday. Following a vigorous campaign, both parties express confidence of being able to carry the day. Labour promises further social benefits, including motherhood endowment and widows’ pensions, while the combined Progressive and Nationalist Party programme includes the restoration of the Upper House, which the Labourites abolished four years ago. The strength of the parties when Parliament was dissolved was' Labour 43, Country, Progressive and Nationalist 29.
