CHARGES OF ASSAULT.
VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, John Chettle Palmer was charged on three counts with indecent assault uion girls aged seven, six and five years respectively. The evidence of the children and of those in accused’s bootmaker’s shop at the time, was rather conflicting, and some of the witnesses broke down altogether. After a retirement of forty minutes the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all counts.
