England is feeling the first effects of the general strike, hut out of the temporary chaos caused by the general dislocation of the normal life of the nation, Is evolving emergency services which are increasing in efficiency every hour. It is anticipated that there will be fairly frequent train, tube and ’bus services to-day, while the Government has overcome the silence caused by the non-publication of the newspapers by issuing a Government Gazette and utilising broadcasting.
