HIBERNIAN JUBILEE.

FIFTY YEARS’ PROGRESS. NEW PLYMOUTH CELEBRATION. The golden jubilee of th© New Plymouth branch of the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society will be celebrated in a few days, th© branch having been opened on May 8, 1876. A series of functions on the 9th, 10th and 11th in st., will mark the occasion, when delegates and visitors will be present from many parts of the Dominion. On Sunday morning the members will receive Holy Communion at the 7 o’clock Mass, after which a breakfast ’will be served in the Rolland Hall. High Mass will be celebrated at 10.30, when the .choir will render Farmer’s Mass in B flat. During the afternoon the visitors will be shown the beauty spots and places of interest about the town. Requiem Mass will be offered on Monday morning for deceased members of the branch, after which th© visitors will be motored to Mount Messenger, where a picnic lunch'will be served. The jubilee banquet will be held in the Rolland Hall on Monday night, and a very large gathering is expected to be present. Tuesday will be occupied with private entertaining, and at night a conversazione has been arranged, to which parishioners and friends are invited. It is worthy of note that two of th© original members of the branch, Messrs. M. J. Dowling (Wanganui) and J. Daly (Manaia), will be present at the celebrations.
