SPORTS GROUND COMMITTEE.

APPLICATIONS FOR GROUNDS. A meeting of the Piikekura Park Sportsground Committee, at which Mr. A. L. Humphries presided, was held on Monday evening. Others present were: Messrs J. McLeod, C. N. Johnson, A. J. Papps, E. Jackson, A. E. Kretschmar, T. H. Bates, J. Clarke, O. Cook, A. T. Moore and L. Little (secretary). An apology was received from Mr. F. Amoore. Applications from a number of football clubs for the rise of the grounds and pavilion for practice purposes, were granted, subject to terms arranged between the applicants and the executive committee. The Rugby Union will be granted the use of the grounds on the same terms as last season. The action of the executive committee in purchasing a motor tractor was confirmed. It was decided to make a charge of £1 for the privilege of distributing advertising matter other than football programmes on match days. The Old Boys’ Association and the Boys’ High School were granted the use of the grounds on April 24 for a football match to be played in aid of the Boys’ High School gymnasium fund. The matter of arranging for additional seating accommodation on the eastern terraces was referred to Hr. Johnson, with power to act. Mr. Papps intimated that the Boys’ High School and the Old Boys’ Association would be pleased to arrange a fixture during the season in aid of the sportsground. Appreciative reference was made by several members of the committee to the excellent condition of the grounds, which have never* looked better than they do now.
