SUPREME COURT.

TARANAKI SESSIONS. SITTINGS COMMENCE TO DAY. The first of the sessions for 1926 of the Supreme Court in the Taranaki judicial district will be commenced at tho courthouse, New Plymouth, this morning at lOjjff. Mr. Justice Reed will be on the Bench. In both criminal and civil business the calendar is a substantial one. Listed for trial in the criminal sittings are two cases of alleged murder, three eases of young men charged with brea'king, entering and theft and mischief, one iu which a man is charged with obtaining credit by means of fraud, one of alleged forging and uttering, and a case of a man charged with a sexual offence. There is also one prisoner for sentence on two charges to which he lias pleaded, guilty in the lower court. In the civil list there is one case for trial before the judge and jury and 12 cases io be taken before the judge alone. The jury «ise. is an action for damages against the Inglewood Borough Council.

There arc seven divorce petitions and three appeal cases and a number of other matters to be dealt with under originating summonses, including five actions against the New Plymouth Borough Council under the Public Works Act relating to alleged damage in connection wit-h the hydro-electric works at Mangorei.
