SMASH AT CROSSING
TRAIN STRIKES MOTORCAR. (From Our Own Reporter.) Hawera, Last Night. Another level crossing accident occurred at Hawera this evening but the con-p*<p-.?nces were not serious. Shortly after .‘■even o’clock the train from Wanganui collided at the Tawhiti crossing with a car driven by Mr. J. Travin, of Hawera. The front wheel of the car was smashed but no further damage was done, the two lady passengers in the car being uninjured. The train had been standing at the crossing waiting for the signal and was only moving very slowly when the car attempted to cross in front of it.
