NEW YEAR HOLIDAY TRAFFIC. WEATHER CAUSES DECLINE. Over twenty-one thousand passengers were carried on the New Plymouth tramways during New Year’s Eve and yesterday (New Year’s Day), and the revenue produced was £203 5s 9d. Owing to the unfavourable weather yesterday t e traffic on this occasion was below that of New Year's Day last year but the traffic on New Year's Eve v*.as practically identical in both cases. Considering, the weather experienced, the tramways engineer and manager (Mr. G. J. Wyatt) expressed satisfaction in conversation with a Daily News reporter last night at the amount of traffic. With rain, thunder and lightning New Year*.? Eve was a particularly uninviting night, but the tram traffic was heavy and the services were extended till midnight. New Year’s Day is generally one of the busiest for the tram way men, and although there were many travellers yesterday, the total was considerably smaller than last year and the revenue fell by over £25. A comparative table of the New Year traffic in 1924 25 and 1925 26 is as follows : 1924-25. Passengers. Revenue.
