UNFAVOURABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS.
THE CUP TO BRIGHT DAY. BONOGNE WINS DOUGLAS HANDICAP. Though weather conditions were far from pleasant, the morning being threatening with a cold wind, there was a very large attendance at the opening of the Stratford. Racing Club's annual meeting yesterday. Unfortunately as the afternoon advanced rain eame on, and consequently the totalisator returns showed a slight decrease. Racing throughout was interesting and finishes were close. Only one first favourite saluted the judge. The Cup was won by the Waikato horse, Bright Day, from a field of twelve, and the Douglas Handicap by the Haw era-trained Bonogne from a field of eight.
