HOW TO MAKE A GARDEN SEAT.

Most boys will enjoy making a garden seat which can be moved about from one part of the garden to another.

The easiest kind of seat to make is the one so often seen in the woods in France; two stumps of trees, and a plank nailed across the top. Provided this is not too big, it is pretty as well as useful. It will not be difficult to find two firm

logs about 16 inches high and 22 inches round. Now got a smooth plank about a yard long and ten or twelve inches broad. This must be nailed to the stumps. Use three long nails to each stump, and place the stumps three or four inches from the ends of the plank. Take care to hammer the nails in straight, and knock them well down to prevent the heads from catching in your clothes. This seat should be varnished with the special solution you can buy very cheaply at any oil and colour shop. The Hut Carpenter.
