N.P. BELLBIRDS.

VISIT TO FITZROY. On Monday evening the • New Plymouth Bell-Birds, under the direction of Mrs. John Craig, A.T.C.L., held the second of their series of concerts in the Methodist Hall, Fitzroy. The hall was well filled with a most appreciative audience, people being present from all parts of the town. Although the programme w r as more than doubled by the demands of the audience, yet the people were loth to let the Bell-Birds go. Half the proceeds of the concert were for the Sailors’ Rest fund and half for the Fitzroy Methodist Choir. The following programme was contributed:—Pianoforte duets, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Skelton; songs, Mr. A. E. Pollock; songs, Mrs. Ray Ambury and Misses Doris Loveridge, Mary Thomas, Ena Cartwright, Ruby Cartwright, Evelyn Cartwright and M. Walker; vocal duets, Misses Evelyn and Ena Cartwright; musical monologues, Miss M. Walker; sketches, Misses M. Walker and Pitcaithly; Bell-Birds, “Japanese Love Song.” Mrs. H. H. Skelton played the accompaniments sympathetically. At an interval in the programme the Rev. P. Cossum commended the object of the series of concerts being given by the Bell-Birds to the sympathy of the public. It was worthy of whole-hearted support. The large audience was a testimony both to the worthiness of the object and to the talent of the performers. The speaker had had experience of Sailors’ Rests at different ports of the Dominion, and he realised the great good such institutions did. The Sailors’ Rest was a place where sailors could meet for social intercourse, games, reading, writing, meetings, etc. It was hoped that the response of the public would soon enable the ladies of the W.C.T.U. to realise their worthy ideal. On the motion of Mr. Cossum, Mrs. Craig and her party were thanked for the excellent entertainment they had given. The reception given to the vari- , ous items showed that the people had 1 thoroughly enjoyed the programme. At tlie conclusion of the programme the performers were entertained to supper.
