CHECK ON MIGRATION.

EFFORT TO LIFT BARRIERS. ITALY AND -LAP AN MOVING. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received June 17, 7.45 p.m London, June 16. It is learned that the International Labour Office of the League of has created a committee to investigate the migration question, presumably as a result of complaints of excessive restrictions on the part of countries to which migration is carried on. The delegates of the Italian and Japanese Governments at the recent Geneva confer once drew attention to the necessity of the Labour Office taking steps with a view to the amelioration of labour conditions and over population in their respective countries. The committee, which is at present in an embryo state, consists of three members, namely, the French Government delegate, the Belgian employers’ representative and the Dutch workers’ representative. The committee has a list of sixty experts, who may be called to give evidence on nygration conditions in the various countries.

A well-informed observer of the Labour Office developments states that it appeared that several nations, having received a setback in respect to the protocol, are now seeking to reopen the migration question through the medium of the Labour Office with the object of introducing unrestricted migration from Europe and Asia.
