MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

XEW PLYMOUTH SITTIXG. A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court .was held at New Plymouth yesterday, Mr. A. M. Alowlem, S.M., presiding. The hearing of an application by Rita Elsie Smith for an order adjudging Claude Furze the putative father of the unborn illegitimate child of which complainant was the mother, was continued. The case for the complainant was heard last week, and ’after hearing the evidence for the defence yesterday judgment was given for the complainant, and the affiliation order allowed accordingly. The question of costs was deferred. Decision was reserved after the hearing of legal argument in the case of the New Zealand Express Company v. the King (Railway Department) in connection with a claim for alleged damages to a van of furniture while it was being unloaded at the station. All cases .set down for hearing to-day will be adjourned. Undefended cases will be dealt with to-morrow morning.
