CANTERBURY MARKETS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The grain, and produce market ia dull almost to the point of lifelessness, apart from such bread and butter lines as wheat and potatoes. Only odd branches of produce are attracting attention. Wheat is coming In freely at the arranged prices and some of the millers are understood to have their storage space well occupied. Other members of the trade, however, are still purchasing freely. The only new feature about the wheat offerings is that under-grade stuff 1* not being accepted by the millers, Oats are inclined to be easier. Forward A’a are quoted at 3s 6%d and B’s at 3s 2d. Business, however, is practically at a standstill. Potatoes are holding the preceding values with difficulty. The f.o.b. sacks in prices are £4 15s a ton for May and £5 12s 6d for July-August. Nominal quotations are £3’ 5s on trucks, but farmers are not seriously considering this price. Heavy quantities are now going north, which is the explanation of the easing. There is Ho change of any sort in. the quotations for seeds. AUCKLAND Auckland, Last Night. A shipment of New Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. lonic. TARANAKI STOCK MARKET, Messrs Newton King, Ltd., rep'ort At Urenui on May 11 the full advertised entry <rf sheep came forward in addition to a very fair yarding of cattle. The sheep were of an exceptionally good class, -being young, big framed and heavily -woolled and very well merited the keen Inquiry that was attracted. As the majority of the lines were unreserved free bidding resulted and the following quotations 'were obtained: —2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes. In iamb, 37s 3d, 365; 4-year-old ewes, in lamb, 32s 7d; ewe lambs, 23s 10d.
