SENTENCED FOR CRIME
WELLINGTON SUPREME COURT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 19. At the Supreme Court to-day William Alexander i/ickie Duncan, for theft at Wanganui, was sentenced to eighteen months’ hard labour; and Sydney Charles Leckie, for breaking, entering and theft, two years’ reformative detention. Allan Cameron McPhee and George Edward Charlton were -charged with indecent assault. Charlion, who was said to be mentally weak, had a fit in the dock. He was sentenced to thr- veers’ detention. .Sir Robert Stout aid he would recommend the prisoner for examination with a view to his detention in an asylum. The trouble was that there was no suitable institution for such cases. McPhee was sentenced to three years’ reformative detention. AUCKLAND SENTENCES.
Auckland, Dec. 19. (Frederick Daniel Sands, aged .23, for unlawful' carnal knowledge of a girl aged 14 years, received four months’ imprisonment to be followed by two years’ probation at the Supreme Court to-day
