Cr. J. T. Belcher, of the Stratfor A County Council, was on Saturday nominated as the council’s representative on the Taranaki Electric Power Board. Admiral Sir Roger Keyes has been appointed Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean, says a London cable. Vice-Ad-miral Sir Frederick Field succeeds Admirall Keyes as deputy-Chief-of Staff. Miss Papps, of Stratford, who has been* appointed headmistress of the Courtenay Street School, New Plymouth, was farewelled at the Stratford primary school oa Friday afternoon. The headmaster (Mr_ L. J. Furrie) presented Miss Papps with a hands-onie leather hand-bag and a lea-ther-bound copy of Browning’s Poems. Im making the presentation Mr. Furrie spokewith regret of the parting from Miss-. Papps, and wished her every success in her new position.
