Only one banner bowling match was played in South Taranaki to-day, Patea defeating Manaia, at Manaia, by a margin of four points. Buttons competitions were played on both the Hawera and Park greens. For the seventeenth time in succession the holders of the Hawera Club A. buttons (Maslin, Skjellerup, Adamson and Hulbert) stalled off a challenge by Winks, Shaw, Toy and R. Hicks, the holders winning by 28 points to 11. In the B. buttons tbe holders (Haggett, Hobbs, Clarke, Squire) defeated the challengers (Old. Booten, Joll, Burdekin) by 33 to 20.

The holders of the buttons at the Park Chib’s greens (A. Grant, Dahl, J. Goodwin and J. Mill) also survived a challenge by Henderson, Mahoney, Adams and Grant, winning bv 25 to 19.
