SENSATIONAL BOLT.
EXCITEMENT IN MELBOURNE WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. Two gallant attempts Stere made last ; week to atop one- of the most sensational I bolts ever seen in the streets of Mclbourne. The bolt culminated in severe injury to a woman. Two horses at-taclv-d to a jinker were left standing in Lonsdale Street. Suddenly they became startled, and bolted into Spenoer Street. There a man jumped into the jinker. and tried to climb out on to the horses’ backs, but was thrown heavily as they swerved into Collina Street. The horses sped up Collins Street, narrowly missing trams and passing through heavy traffic at a gallop. Halfway up Collins Street, a constable threw himself into the jinker, but 7 as it seemed ■certain that a terrific collision with a tram was certain to occur he dropped oil, after having climbed out on to one of tlie horses* backs. Ihe jinker missed the tram, and continued great speed until the horses and velrjcle crashed into a motor-cajr with violence that the car was was thrown against another car. This car was thrown several yards. Jt Knocked down 'Miss Janet Spencer, of V\ est Brunswick, tlie wheels of the car passing over her chest. She was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition.
