WAITING FOR TRUCKS .

AUCKLAND COLLIERIES IDLE. .SERIOUS POSITION FOR MEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland. Last Night. No work was done to-day at the Taupiri, Pukemiro, Waipa and Glenahon coal mines for the reason that no trucks were available to remove coal in some of the mines. Yesterday the men were idle for part of the time for a similar reason. It is a serious matter for the men to lose time just before the Christmas and New Year vacation, as they have not had too good a time of late. At the present time the shortage of trucks is particularly unfortunate, as the Gas Company and Power Board are wanting slack. As a matter of fact, deliveries of that grade are about 1009 tons behind. Supplies are also wanted for various industries. A deputation from the Coal-miners’ Association waited upon the local traffic manager this morning, and was informed that owing to the greatly increased traffic on the railways there was a shortage of trucks at the present time.
