KILLED HIS WIFE.

MAHON CASE RECALLED. POLISH DOCTOR’S CRIME. REFUSED A DIVORCE. By Telegraph.—Press Atfi).—Copyright. Received Dec. 18, 5.5 p.m. Warsaw, Dec. 17. A Polsh Patrick Mahon, named Kasprzak, justifies murdering and dismembering his wife on the grounds that he wanted to show what a man can be driven to if he is refused a divorce.

Kasprzak, who is a well-known surgeon, was accidentally discovered by detectives with parts of the dismembered woman in his travelling bag. As his professional explanations were not conclusive the police instituted inquiries, and found that his wife was missing. The marriage had been unhappy and Kasprzak, having sought a divorce and lost the case, killed his wife with a hatchet, and wa s taking the dismembered body to Warsaw for disposal in a similar manner to that adopted by Mahon, when h e was discovered. The police had merely boarded the train to examine passengers’ luggage for contraband, and had not the least suspicion of the crime.

Kasprzak at the trial pleaded not guilty, saying the divorce court was responsible. He was sentenced to servitude for life.
