MAN MURDERS HIS WIFE.
MORAL SELF-CONTROL LOST,
SENTENCED TO DEATH

I shall report thus -to the Home Secretary.” 'C’amhani gave evidence that he .served in the South African and Great Wars. He had a pension of quarterly of which he gave Iris wife £7 10s. He had no. regular work’ for two and a half years, and his wife- was recently “nagging” over his failure to earn gomething.
On the morning of the crime he went in search of work, .but. was told, that he was too old and only fit for the dust heap. He returned and found no breakfast. “My wife told me to clear out,’*, lie said. “I lost my temper and struck * lief with a hammer., .-1 then tried to commit suicide w’-ith gas fumes.” Canham concluded: “That’s what you get for serving your country. ’
