TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB,

■CHRISTMAS MEETING. The forthcoming Christmas meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club to be held on the New Plymouth course on December 26 and 27 promises to be a record one. Good even nominations we v e received for all events and it is confidently expected that acceptances, which close on Friday for the first day’s races, will ensure eatisfacitory fields all through. The course has never been in better order and the appointmvr'ts generally leave nothing to be desired. A very decided improvement will be the additional entrance from the Avenue Road for motor-cars travelling to the meeting by way of Junction and Avenue Roads. These cars will be parked on the i enthern portion of the club’s property. This additional parking paddock for oars will be keenly appreciated by motorists; it will enable them to avoid irksome delay at the main entrance on arrival and will also facilitate their departure at the conclusion of the racing. Gaite-keepers will be stationed at the entrance of the course and patrons ’a ill have the same facilities as at the main entrance. Another matter to which -special attention is dra,wn, is tlie exeepitionelly good arrangements made by the RailDepartment to eater for the race traffic. Convenient and special trains have been arranged and special day excursion fares granted. The concessions, full particulars of which have already been published, are ver 7 liberal indeed and the innovation should prove a big success.
