A haka, led by C. Hoeta and, J. Hoeta, completed a most enjoyable programme. The acc nqianiments were played by Mrs. Belcher and. Misses Grant ami Hawkins.

Every item was well received, encores being called for in nearly every ease, and the organisers (Mrs. Russell and her assistant, Miss Grant) and all those contributing to the programme, are deserving of the highest praise for the efficient manner in which the function was conducted. The stage was prettily decorated with greenery, bunches of flowers and masses of coloured streamers. Pupils of Miss Wyonne Haybittie performed a number of pretty dances.

On behalf of the School Committee the chairman (Mr. E. Davis) congratulated the children on the excellent entertainment they had provided during the evening, the whole performance reflecting much credit on the headmistress and her assistant. Mr. Davis said that during the year the school had done exceptionally well in the examinations, all the sixth standard pupils gaining their proficiency, and one boy. Ray Anderson, in standard five, had also gained his proficiency. The same progiess was to be seen in the lower classes. The school was greatly indebted to the teachers for the results attained. Not only had much work been done in school, but the grounds had been greatly improved during the year with the help o.f the teachers and pupils, who had done all in their power to assist the committee to carry out their objective, nafnely, to make the grounds the beauty spot of the district. Special mention was due to Masters M. Browning and C. Hoeta for the assistance they had given. Mr. S'. G. Smith said he joined with Mr. Davis in congratulating the teachers and pupils on the very fine entertainment which had been provided. The whole performance would have done credit to a much larger centre. The school had certainly done excellent work during the year, as was proved by the inspectors’ reports, and he had every reason to believe that the district was extremely fortunate in having such teachers as Mrs. Russell and Miss Grant.
