England commenced a match against an Australian junior eleven in fine weather and on’ a good wicket. The juniors in the first innings made 169 (Josselyn 47, Callaway 35). Freeman took four wickets for fifty-six.
England in the first innings have lost no wickets for 95 (Hobbs 50 not out, Sutcliffe 40 not out).
M. A. Noble captained the juniors but failed to score. Most of h’s team suffered badly from stage fright, and were unable to show their true form. BATSMEN’S DAY IN SYDNEY. Received Dec. 14, 55 n.m. Sydney, Dec. 14. Playing for Western Suburbs against Mosman, Bardsley made 96. For North Sydney against Balmain Pennycuick made 124. Fdr Petersham against Central ' Cumberand the veteran, E. L. Waddy, scored 90. For Rand wick against Waverley Lumby took six wickets for 37.
