TWO MEN KILLED.
LEVEL CROSSING SMASH. TRAIN AND MOTOR-CYCLE. IMPACT WRECKS MOTOR. By Telegraph—Preai Asanclatlon. Christchurch, Last Night. A level crossing smash resulting in the death of two men occurred at Burnham last night, Dunean Stuart, of Cheviot, and Edward Reeves, of Christchurch, being the victims. The men were travelling over the crossing at an ordinary pace in a motorcycle and side-car, when the south express, travelling at 35 miles an hour, dashed into them. Reeves was hurled over a fence and Stuart was literally torn to pieces, having been carried on the engine about 200 yards. The cycle and s‘.de-car, which comprised a mass of unrecognisable iron, were thrown in the air and dropped some distance down the line. Stuart was killed instantaneously. Reeves was picked up unconscious and died in the Christchurch hospital later.
