A complete agreement was reached in the related printing trades dispute before the Conciliation Council this morning. Minor alterations were made in the hours clause and in the definition of the bookbinding clause. The classification was altered to towns of 6000 and over in conformity with the typographical agreement. The definition or journeymen bookbinders’ work was altered to enable wholesale bookbinders to compete against the imported article. At the conclusion of the sitting th® assessors expressed pleasure at the reasonable spirit shown by both sides, stating that the proceedings of the two cases were the most cordial for many years. The awards have virtually a Dominion application, except, that female workers in Wellington and Auckland are excluded.
