FLOOD SWEEPS PETROGRAD. SOME LOSS OF LIFE. WIDESPREAD DAMAGE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. i [Riga, Sept. 25. A huge tidal wave from the Baltic swept up the Neva, overflowing the banks and causing great destruction and loss of life in Petrograd. The trams, water, gas and electric light services were paralysed. The authorities mobilised the population to clear the street*. Received Sept. 26, 5.6 p.m. London, Sept. 25. Official news from Petrograd states that the flood caused extensive damage to property in the city, including the British mission’s offices. The loss of life so far is not announced'. Food supplies are assured and the flood waters are subsiding.
