BETTER RAILWAYS.
STATEMENT NEXT WEEK. ELECTRIC TRAINS FOR -SUBURBS. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. It Is expected that the statement which the Minister for Railways has prepared regarding -important improve* tneirte in the railway system will be presented to Parliament next week. The idea of the Hon. J.' G. Coates is to deal with works in their order of importance.
It is understood that Messrs Merz and McLennan, who were advisers to the Victorian Government in connection with the electrification of the Melbourne suburban train services, will advise the New' Zealand Government on the question of the electrification of suburban services.
