SMALLER GOLF COURSES.
USE OF SPECIAL BALLS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright London, Sept. 24. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews'reports the failure .of experiments with the new ball with which it was hoped to restore the balance between the length of holes and the power of the club, and thus restrain long drivers and reduce the acreage required for first-class courses. The Im Us tried were solid-cored, both larger and smaller than the present type, also floaters, but all the results were negative. It has been decided to continue the experiments.
