FIRST ROYAL SHOW. Advices from Palmerston North state that the prospects for the Dominion’s first Royal Show are exceedingly bright. Enquiries for prize lists are reaching the secretary from all parts of the Dominion. Entries have already commenced to come in, and preparations for the big event are well in hand. Two of the spacious halls of the association have been allocated to the New Zealand Motor Trades Association, which body is putting forth a special effort. This portion of the show will be a very fine attraction. The Manawatu Kennel Club will also stage their annual show, which in honour of the occasion will be an al! challenge exhibition. Time is speeding along to the closing of entries. Dogs, schools, needlework, cookery and photography, etc. will close sharp on October 4. and other live stock sectiorp on October 11. Those who are desirous of participating and have not received prize schedules can obtain them free on application to the joint secretaries, P.O. Box 8,5, Palmerston North. The Railway Department has announced that ■excursion rates will be available all over the North Island main lines and their branches.
