NEW ZEALANDER IN LONDON. TOM HEENEY’ OUTPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 23, 7.55 p.m. London, Sept. 22. In a heavyweight boxing match Phil Scott outpointed Toni Heeney, a New ZeAlander, in twenty rounds. The house was packed, several hundred being turned away. Scott had the better of nearly every round and scored well with body blows and uppercuts In clinches, while he kept Heeney off with straight lefts. Heeney fought gamely and occasionally looked dangerous with right and left swings, but the Englishman mostly took them on the arms. TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. / MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association met last night. Present: Messrs. W. N. Stephenson (chairman). J. Horlor, G. Richards, C. H. Stephenson. R. Barlow, J. Vale, A. L. Hunter, J. Garcia and E. J. Carr (secretary) . Final arrangements were made in connection with Saturday’s tournament. P. Demsky and Lin Robinson are both very fit, and from reports received the bout should be an exciting one. Pemsky will arrive on Thursday evening and Robinson is expected about the 1 same time. Amateur bouts, were definitely arranged as follows: Goodwin v. Brosnan; Furze v. Duggan: Higgins v. Hayward: Quin v. Hooper. Mr. A. Maxwell, of Wellington, who has been appointed referee in the Demsky-Roblnson tourney on Saturday night, wired notifying his acceptance of the position. P. DEMSKY v. LIN ROBINSON. The professional contest arranged by the Taranaki Boxing Association to take place at the Coronation Hall next Saturday night should prove the finest yet staged in New Plymouth. The contestants are both in the first flight of boxers. Paul Demsky has Just returned to New Zealand from a most successful tour of New South Wales and Queensland, where he fought five fights, winning all. He is already known to New Plymouth fans, having i defeated Harry May in a fifteen-round contest j here last year. Lin Robinson, the other con- ’ testant. is undoubtedly one of the most ’ scientific boxers in the land. He has held the featherweight title for a number of years, but now has outgrown the weight, limit in this class, and Is compelled to. fight lightweight. On five days’ notice he met Volalre some months ago, and was leading on points when his eye was split and the fight was J stopped. Boxing patrons must not confuse Lin Rnblnson with any other Robinson, as Lin Robinson is the champion.
