The captain of the Maori, which arrived here from Lyttelton thia morning, reports that shortly after leaving Lyttelton a small vessel, believed to be a trawW, was seen to be on fire. A boat was lowered and rowed close to the burning vessel, which was then a mass of flames.

There was no sign of life on -board. It is believed the occupants had escaped in boats.
