PERSONAL

Commissioner and Mrs. Hoggard, territorial leaders of the Salvation Army, will be in New Plymouth to-morrow. Major Macaulay and Ensign and Mrs. Goffin are also visiting New Plymouth. Dr. P. Allison, late of Waitara, who recently went to England to pursue his studies, is an inmate of an Edinburgh hospital suffering from a severe breakdown (writes our Waitara correspondent). He had been competing with success in various tennis championships, when at the completion of one of the games he collapsed. The death of Mrs. Weller, wife of Mr. A. Weller, of the staff of the Daily News, occurred at her home at Fitzroy yesterday. Mrs. Weller, who was 72 years of age, had resided y n New Plymouth for over 32 years, and her kindly dispoaitipn brought her a wide circle of friends. She was always thoughtful for others and anxious to assist in any work for a good cause. Though living a quiet, retired life in recent years she enjoyed good health and was able to go about until quite recently. Born at Lewisham, Kent, England, Mrs. Weller was married at Caterham, Surrey, and last Saturday marked the 47th anniversary of her wedding day. Mr. and Mrs. Weller and their family came out to New Zealand in 1892 and arrived at New Plymouth in the same year. They settled at Fitzroy, which has been their home ever since. The deepest sympathy is extended to Mr. Weller and his family— Mrs. M. J. Armstrong (New Plymouth), who is now on her way home from England and the continent, Mrs. H. J. Johnston (Fitzroy), and Messrs. A. E. and B. Weller (New Plymouth).
