FIRE DESTROYS DWELLING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Feilding, Last Night. Mr. H. B. Burrell’s six-roomed residence in West Street was destroyed by fire yesterday. The occupants were away at the time and the fire was burning for some time before it was discovered. The insurances are held by the Phoenix and Sun offices, but the Amounts are not available. NEW ZEALAND BUTTER BEST. Wellington, Sept. 15. The Director-General of Agriculture has received information from the High Commissioner that, despite the fanu» which Jersey cattle have attained throughout the world, a resident of Jersey told the Commissioner’s Office that people in the island use New Zea land butter, which was sold in every shop. The police arrested a young native named Horn Akuira, who was to-day remanded for a week on the burglary charge. DWELLING BURNED. Blenheim, Sept. 15. A six-roomed dwelling owned and occupied by W. Broadbent at Springlands was completely destroyed by fire last night. Practically nothing was saved. The insurance on the building was £9OO in the Phoenix Office and on the furniture £350 in the New Zealand Insurance Office. An adjacent house caught, fire, but the brigade effected a good save, the damage to the second house being estimated at £5O. It was insured for £5OO in the State Office. THEFT RY A CLERK. Auckland, Sept. 15. Eric Thompson, aged 21. was charged at the Police Court with the theft of £412 7s 6d, the property of W. and R. Fletcher. Lid., and pleaded guilty. In a statement to the police he said he had taken the money at various times, hoping to repay it. spent it on pleasures. He was committed for sentence. Bail w r as allowed in £5OO.
